Captain’s Club 2018

Captain’s Club 2018

It is with great pleasure that we post the Captain’s Club list for the 2018 season!

Please note we have pared down the list to just members who have been active in the last five years. Not to worry, you are a Captain’s Club Member for life, all other names can be found in the Archive List.

Membership in the Captain’s Club is the prestigious honour attained by Riders and Champions who have acquired a total of $1,000 or more in pledges.

These people represent the vary backbone of our fight against prostate cancer.

Once a member acquires a total of at least $1,000 in pledges they enter the Club at the Bronze level. Members have the opportunity to work their way up to Silver, Gold, three levels of Diamond and finally into the Platinum level at over $100,000. These pledges are tracked year over year and from Ride to Ride and the funds raised are cumulative.

For Captain’s Club Members

Numbers have been tallied for 2018 and the lists we posted have once again revealed some amazing statistics. This year, two members – Martin Vandewouw and Terry Michalsky – have crossed the $50,000.00 threshold to be awarded Triple Diamond status.

Five members passed the $25,000 mark to reach Double Diamond, and the ranks of the Diamond, over $10,000, has increased by an amazing nineteen new members! Be sure to check the list for our new members and those that have moved up to Gold and Silver.

In all this year, 156 members moved up a level and another 201 entered the Captain’s Club for the first time.

Our Captain’s Club now has a total of 3,798 members, who have raised just shy of 16 Million dollars! Congratulations!

Single-Year List for 2018

Last year, in response to comments we received, we added an exciting new list. Some of our members had pointed out that with the large spreads between levels, especially at the higher levels, that riders can bring in substantial amounts of donations but because it didn’t trigger a level change their efforts were not celebrated nationally.

So once again, we created a list of the totals brought in for just 2018. For the second year in a row, Tony Kusiak tops the list with an amazing $24,230 brought to the cause for 2018!

You will also notice a number of Champions on this list identified by the phrase “Captain’s Club one time gift”. These are a group of people who for the last several years have been scaling mountain peaks around the world as part of Shawn Dawson’s Dream Mountains Team. They were climbing and raising money for the Ride For Dad.

Recently, we re-launched our Roadside newsletter. This is a news update that will be shared throughout the year, highlighting news relevant to Captain’s Club members. This year we are planning to make the newsletter available electronically and contact you by e-mail.

The Captain’s Club data is updated annually, and we are constantly working to create the most accurate lists possible for you. Again this year, we are posting two main versions of the entire list: one ranks the members by levels and a second version with the members’ names listed alphabetically. Within those lists we have used a colour-coded system to indicate new members (green) and those members that moved up a level or more (blue). In addition to being recorded in the master list, we have posted members in additional lists for the ATV, Snowmobile and Watercraft Rides, this is to make it easier for you to find yourself and access your position within your Division.

When entering the Club, you are issued a Captain’s Club Number, please take note of your CC number and use it whenever you are registering pledges. Keep it handy as it will be soon be your passport to special savings in our on-line store and access to a unique line of Captain’s Club items. Be sure to check it out at RideForDadstore.ca.

If you have changed addresses since you registered for your event, please contact Byron at: .

Thanks again and Congratulations to all our Captain’s Club members for all your efforts in the fight against Prostate Cancer with the TELUS Ride For Dad and the Prostate Cancer Fight Foundation.

About the Captain’s Club

The Captains’ Club is designed to acknowledge and recognize those riders who consistently participate in TELUS Ride For Dad events and raise pledges. The Captain’s Club database tracks the participant year over year and from ride location to ride location, capturing a cumulative total of funds raised; award packages are based on that total. The awards package consists of a Bronze, Silver, Gold or Diamond(s), Platinum(s) pin, patch and decal.

The level of recognition is based on the amount of accumulated funds raised:

Level Pledge Range
BRONZE $1,000-$2,499
SILVER $2,500-$4,999
GOLD $5,000-$9,999
DIAMOND $10,000-$24,999
DOUBLE DIAMOND $25,000-$49,999
TRIPLE DIAMOND $50,000-$99,999
PLATINUM $100,000-$249,999
DOUBLE PLATINUM $250,000-$499,999
TRIPLE PLATINUM $500,000 and over
